Step Afrika celebrates stepping an art based in African traditions. As the first professional company dedicated to stepping Step Afrika’s intricate kicks stomps and rhythms mixed with spoken word pound the floor and fill the air. They step to entertain but also to raise awareness for the culture that created stepping. From Appalachia to South Africa from stepping to gumboot to Zulu Step Afrika seeks to build connections between people and to highlight the similarities in our dance forms our lives and our communities.
